Urugo rw'Amahoro: The Home of Peace

Friends Peace House (FPH) is a faith-based organisation and registered NGO, founded by the Evangelical Friends Church of Rwanda in December 2000 to help rebuild Rwandan society through peace and reconciliation. It became fully independent in December 2015.

Our identity

A faith-based organisation, open to all

Friends Peace House (FPH) began in 2000, founded by the Evangelical Friends Church of Rwanda. Our main mission was to contribute to the rebuilding of Rwandan society after the damage of the genocide against the Tutsi in 1994, aiding the country's development through building peace and reconciliation.

FPH functioned under the church until 12 December 2015, when it received full documentation as an independent organisation. We remain thankful to the Evangelical Friends Church of Rwanda, which continues to be affiliated with us. We are a faith-based organisation and work without discrimination with regards to race, religion, and gender.

Our mission is to promote peace, unity, and reconciliation among Rwandans and to holistically contribute to the development of Rwandan society.

Our vision is to see Rwandese people living together in good relationship with one another in healthy and well-developed communities.

A word of thanks

Over the years we have been supported by many organisations to operate our programs. Our partners include Mennonite Central Committee, Quaker Service Norway, Caritas International Belgium, Nexus Impact, and GlobalGiving. They have been instrumental in the running and upkeep of all our programs, and we are endlessly thankful for their support.

We thank God for enabling us to have these programs. We thank our partners, the leadership of the church who advise us, and the local government for allowing and assisting us to work where we are able. We thank the FPH workers and volunteers, and all who have contributed in any way for us to achieve what we do.

As we continue working for the development of Rwanda through our programs, we pray for your continued support as we persevere through challenges.

Friends Peace House is run by a staff team across our Kigali office, the Kagarama campus, and the Bugesera campus, supported by trained facilitators and volunteers.
